My Story



Attorney Brown was born and raised in Mississippi. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and thereafter, continued her studies at the University of Mississippi, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Paralegal Studies and minor in Psychology. After earning her undergraduate degree, she obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Alabama. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law where she served as the Social Action Chairman of the Black Law Student Association.
Attorney Brown began her legal experience working with the District Attorney’s office in the Sixteenth Judicial District where she earned a wealth of knowledge and trial experience. She later began her legal career by opening her own law firm, where she has developed a reputation for her work ethic, trial skills, compassion, and aggressiveness.
Attorney Brown currently serves as the West Point Municipal Court Prosecutor and the interim Clay County Attorney. As County Attorney, she serves as the Prosecuting Attorney for the Clay County Youth Court as well as the Clay County Justice Court. She also prosecutes all appeals from Justice Court to Circuit Court. In addition to her private practice, Attorney Brown has previously served as Guardian Ad litem (Clay County, Lee County and Monroe County), the Clay County Youth Court Public Defender, and West Point Municipal Court Public Defender. When time permits, Attorney Brown serves as Of Counsel with the Cochran firm in their Mississippi-Delta office.
Attorney Brown is a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. She enlisted in March of 2003 and has served the military for almost 20 years. She has completed two military deployments, Operation Enduring Freedom, 2005 and Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2009. Attorney Brown is a member of Joint Forces Headquarters of Jackson, MS where she currently serves as a member of the Judge Advocate section. Attorney Brown plans to retire from 20 years of Military service in March of 2023.
Attorney Brown is the Northern District Director of the Magnolia Bar Association. She is also member of the American Bar Association, Mississippi Public Defenders Association, Mississippi Prosecutors Association, Young Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers.
Attorney Brown has been recognized as a 2022 Mid-South Rising Star of Super Lawyers Selection in her area as well as Top 40 under 40 of African American Attorneys.
She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and a proud mother of one son, Cameron Whitfiled.
